O Arrais Do Mar

Video Art - Installation

Director: Elisa Celda
Cinematographer: Alana Mejía González
Producer.: Julieta Juncadella - Una Presencia

Synopsis:

O arrais do mar proposes a nocturnal radiography of a territory in which several simultaneous actions establish a complex relationship between the sea and the coast. The film shows a nocturnal journey of the last fishing community of Arte de Xávega, a type of traditional fishing that is in the process of extinction in Portugal and has hardly evolved over the centuries. At the same time, under the immense cliff a few meters from the sea, other bodies wander the terrain seeking occasional sexual encounters between them. The film portrays a space with no centre and hardly any surveillance in which certain actions that have been displaced find their place.
